At 76 yrs old I truly was thinking I just had to get used to my aches and pains, and that they were only going to get worse. WRONG! A friend recommended Amanda, who evaluated and addressed my specific issues, giving me exercises and careful instructions on how to get the most out of them. Strengthening my core muscles is making a big difference for my balance, agility and energy level. Amanda figured me out and came up with a plan just for me, that changes as I progress. She is fun to work with, motivational and very clear in her instructions. And seeing her virtually is SO convenient and easy. I highly recommend her!
Over the years, I have worked with many trainers. Amanda is in a different league. She was born to do this job. Her love of helping people achieve their potential shines through in every session. For the first time in my entire life, I have muscle definition! At first, I was worried about remote training, but it totally works and is way more convenient for those of us who travel frequently. I cannot recommend someone more highly. Amanda is a gift. -Julie S.
I am an 81 year old male who has recovered from an illness this past winter which had me house and bed-bound for several months. I was so weak that getting dressed was an ordeal and stairs were to be avoided if at all possible. My usual tennis game was a disaster since I had FORGOTTEN how to run. At my daughter's insistence, I started twice weekly virtual sessions with Amanda and within 2 months, my balance and agility have returned, I am hiking several times weekly and my tennis game has returned. I still need more work to get to full strength, but I am confident that I will be in better shape than before my illness. I truly regard my rapid recovery as miraculous. Thank you Amanda!

I have had several trainers over the past 12 years and it’s hard to think of anyone that I have trusted more with my whole health and wellness. Amanda Joyce is a proficient, smart, engaging and thoughtful person who uses everything she knows every session. She reacts to your needs, thinks hard about how to make and keep you healthy and teaches you lifelong tips. Her goal is not just to make you fit but to instill corrective habits that keep you mobile for life. I do whatever she tells me, because I know she’s right.

A good friend recommended I see Amanda Joyce for therapy on my back. I have scoliosis and stenosis along with pain from an unsuccessful back surgery. Amanda recognized my poor posture and has done wonders in making me aware of how to improve it and strengthen my back. My pain has improved considerably. Amanda knows so much about the connectivity of the muscles and bone structure of the body- from the top of one’s neck to the tip of their toes! Along with her knowledge, is her patience and explanations of why she has a client do the special exercises she prescribes. I highly recommend Amanda.
My husband Peter and I both train with Amanda. We moved to Santa Monica 9 years ago and Peter developed a passion for surfing. In order to cope with mid-life crisis, he set a goal to progress from long-boarding to short-boarding - a serious physical challenge for anyone, let alone a 40-year old from Connecticut. Within a year he accomplished his goal (and I must say that I don't mind the arm, back, and shoulder muscles required for short-boarding :-)After my second baby was born I decided it was time to give training a try myself. I was really nervous at first, but Amanda was very encouraging. I'm in the best shape of my life and fit into my skinny jeans!

As a Parkinson’s disease specialist for 25 years, the value of regular exercise in improving one’s quality of life can not be overstated. Since every person with Parkinson’s disease is different, it is extremely important that an exercise program be individually developed to address that person’s needs. This is where Amanda excels. She develops a program based on the person’s disability, while taking into account other physical issues. Amanda has helped so many of my patients not only with their symptoms from Parkinson’s disease, but also low back pain and arthritis. Most importantly, people enjoy working with Amanda which means they keep exercising.

Thank God for compassionate experts like Amanda Joyce. Because of my movement needs I have hired multiple specialized therapists. However, only when I started working with Amanda did I feel major improvements. She is a healer, as well as a teacher. Her knowledge, dedication and empathy is remarkable. I highly recommend her services to anyone in need of special care. Thank you Amanda for being so giving and for your unique expert knowledge.

Amanda was a Godsend during the Covid lockdown. Even via iPad, her bright shining hello and positive energy miraculously chased those stressful times away! Switching from in person training to virtual was seamless! As important as keeping me fit (at age 76 a tight butt and toned arms are pretty important to me) Amanda has a breadth of knowledge about anatomy key to pushing me hard enough to stay strong but not get hurt. Although bursitis in my shoulder, probably from golf, recently kept me off the course for several months, Amanda put me through my paces and I’m back to playing with zero pain. I’ve been training with Amanda for around 6 years, and every session feels fresh. As much as I would love to see her in person, it makes no difference in the quality of her work if she’s in Northern California and I’m in LA, or I’m in Tahoe and she’s in Mississippi... The biggest mystery is; no matter where either of us might be, she still manages to see behind me….big hug, Amanda!
With Amanda as my personal trainer this past year, I have entered my 80’s with renewed physical strength and vastly improved balance, both critical for my health. Within the previous 5 years I had suffered from multiple fractures from falling including fractures of both hips and the femur in my right leg. After thorough and continuous evaluations of my issues and my needs Amanda has worked with me on the internet twice a week for over a year now. I am amazed at how successful her online training as been. When I have questions she is able to explain and to demonstrate when necessary. No session is ever the same as Amanda is constantly evaluating my progress and carefully planning each session as well as exercises for me to do on my own between sessions. Being with her virtually is effective and convenient. She is passionate about her profession, always enthusiastic and fun to work with. I can not recommend Amanda highly enough.
Great personal trainers like Amanda Joyce are defined by a long list of satisfied clients- I am one of them. I was a couch potato. I work in a sedentary profession (psychotherapist), hate working out, hate hiking, hate moving. As I am aging, I awoke one morning and terrified myself that I would soon be an old lady unable to move. I found Amanda and what makes her so great for me is that I get a heartfelt and honest sense of her caring for me. She is so very knowledgeable, gives great, well thought out exercises, teaches the reasons for the movements, tells personal stories that keep me interested and motivated to continue, works with me at a pace I can tolerate and feel successful, yet challenges me to keep moving forward. I cannot say enough about how great a trainer she is. Amanda provides a perfect combination of diverse training methods, individualized exercise programs and challenging, yet achievable goals. Amanda is an outstanding master of her craft.

Amanda has changed the way I feel about my body. She got me into shape (after many other fruitless attempts over the years), helped me understand the elements of my body mechanics that were causing me pain, and developed exercises and stretches to overcome them. She is fun to work with and doesn't act like a crazy drill sergeant but makes me sweat and push my limits. I also appreciate the way she incorporates other modalities like yoga into our workouts to keep them fresh and to continue strengthening different areas of my body. I would highly recommend Amanda to anyone interested in getting or staying in shape, and feeling a better connection to their body and more in control of their physical well-being.
